Daily Wisdom 279: Proverbs 13:4

Proverbs 13:4 (NKJV) — 4 The soul of a lazy man desires, and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

Desire and diligence. Desire alone is impotent. Positive thinking alone is of little value. Desire must be completed by diligence, and then goals will be attained. The problem with lazy persons is not that they have no ambition. (See Proverbs 21:25.) It is that they refuse to do what is necessary to realize their ambitions. They begin to look for shortcuts, which often lead to dishonesty and crime. Right mental attitude must be completed by right actions.
