Proverbs 13:1 (NKJV) — 1 A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a scoffer does not listen to rebuke.

Hearing right. It is a wise son who listens to and acts on his father’s instruction. Even when a son attains adulthood, he is wise to seek his father’s counsel as long as his father is alive. Part of honoring one’s parents is to consider their advice respectfully even as an adult.
