Daily Wisdom 211: Proverbs 10:25

Proverbs 10:25 (NKJV) — 25 When the whirlwind passes by, the wicked is no more, But the righteous has an everlasting foundation.

The transitory nature of wickedness; the permanence of righteousness. The wicked are as unstable as a whirlwind; the righteous are solid and enduring. Righteous persons will not be a “flash in the pan.” Their light will continue to shine through tests and trials.

Daily Wisdom 210: Proverbs 10:24

Proverbs 10:24 (NKJV) — 24 The fear of the wicked will come upon him, And the desire of the righteous will be granted.

Faith and fear. In some ways, faith and fear are two sides of the same coin. Faith is trust in God; fear is a lack of trust in God. There is a result of trusting God, and there is a result of failing to trust God.

Hebrews 11:1 (NKJV) — 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Daily Wisdom 208: Proverbs 10:22

Proverbs 10:22 (NKJV) — 22 The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, And He adds no sorrow with it.

Riches without sorrow. The momentary thrills of the world are followed by disappointment, regret, remorse, emptiness, and sorrow. In contrast, God’s blessings make us truly rich, and they are not followed by regret and remorse.

Daily Wisdom 206: Proverbs 10:20

Proverbs 10:20 (NKJV) — 20 The tongue of the righteous is choice silver; The heart of the wicked is worth little.

A valuable tongue and a worthless heart. The tongue of a righteous person is extremely valuable, but even the heart of a wicked person is worth little. How can a tongue be valuable? By speaking upbuilding, encouraging, edifying things and by not speaking hurtful things. How can a heart be worthless? By not harboring mercy or grace and by entertaining revenge, bitterness, and malice.

Daily Wisdom 205: Proverbs 10:19

Proverbs 10:19 (NKJV) — 19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, But he who restrains his lips is wise.

A sign of a sinner and of a wise man. A “big talker” is sure to sin with his lips. A wise person, however, guards his lips. He does not say all he could say; he does not tell all he knows; he does not say all he thinks; he does not speak impetuously or rashly.

A blog dedicated to the Holy Spirit

When my book The Holy Spirit was released, Kaleb Saucer, the director of sales and marketing for the UPCI Division of Publications, asked me to write a series of posts for use on the Pentecostal Publishing House blog.

The second post is now available to read at the following link:

A Light in Darkness: Stories of Grief and Loss

I recently received a hard copy of the new book A Light in Darkness: Stories of Grief and Loss. The book is published by Word Aflame Press and is available at pentecostalpublishing.com.

With an introduction by Scott Graham and thirteen chapters by a variety of authors, this 150-page book is intended not only for those who have suffered grief and loss but also for those who seek guidance on how to minister comfort to them.

Susan and I contributed the final chapter, wherein she shares the story of the loss of her husband, Robert Fuller. I share my experience with the loss of my wife, Judy. Together, we then reveal the miraculous turn of events that resulted in our marriage seven years ago.

I recommend this book. Scripture calls on us to practice empathy, and this provides an opportunity to do so. (See Romans 12:15.)

Daily Wisdom 204: Proverbs 10:18

Proverbs 10:18 (NKJV) — 18 Whoever hides hatred has lying lips, And whoever spreads slander is a fool.

Marks of a fool. Two characteristics of a fool are: (1) he pretends to love those he hates; and (2) he slanders. Slander is “a false tale or report maliciously  uttered, and tending to injure the reputation of another by lessening him in the esteem of his fellow citizens” (Webster).
