Daily Wisdom 54: Proverbs 3:27

Proverbs 3:27 (NKJV) — 27 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.

Giving others their due. We are responsible for the payment of our debts. But there are other debts we owe besides money. When we have the ability to do so, we are to perform good for those to whom it is due. We owe honor to the elders who labor in the Word and doctrine.

1 Timothy 5:17 (NKJV) — 17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

We owe taxes, customs, respect, and honor to human governments.

Romans 13:7–8 (NKJV) — 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor. 8 Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.
