Proverbs 3:31 (NKJV) — 31 Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways;
Don’t follow the example of those who oppress others. When we hear of how others have profited by taking advantage of people, we may be tempted to do the same, but we must resist this temptation. For example, a man may boast that he made extra profit by substituting inferior, cheap materials for the quality he agreed to install. Another may “pull a fast one” under the theory that what people don’t know won’t hurt them. But the Lord feels very keenly about the oppression of people.
Psalm 62:10 (NKJV) — 10 Do not trust in oppression, Nor vainly hope in robbery; If riches increase, Do not set your heart on them.
James 5:1–6 (NKJV) — 1 Come now, you rich, weep and howl for your miseries that are coming upon you! 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded, and their corrosion will be a witness against you and will eat your flesh like fire. You have heaped up treasure in the last days. 4 Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. 5 You have lived on the earth in pleasure and luxury; you have fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you.
He desires for everyone to live by the Golden Rule.
Matthew 7:12 (NKJV) — 12 Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.
He gave the parable of the Good Samaritan to illustrate how we are to treat others.
Luke 10:25–37 (NKJV) — 25 And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it?” 27 So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” 28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” 29 But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” 30 Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. 31 Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. 32 Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. 33 But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. 34 So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. 35 On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ 36 So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?” 37 And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
